Our Farmers
There are roughly 2,500 active wheat and barley farms in Eastern Washington cultivating 2.3 million acres of wheat and barley annually.
Farmers have successfully reduced their environmental footprint since land was broken out for farms in Eastern Washington beginning in the 1860s, dramatically reducing erosion as well as the crop protection inputs necessary to ensure a healthy crop. New technology to limit the application of herbicides by only spraying weeds is also becoming popular as farmers look to reduce expenses and control herbicide resistance.
