Most barley grown in Washington is spring barley which is planted in early spring and harvested in late summer.

In 2019, Washington barley growers harvested 85,000 acres of barley which had an average yield of 70 bushels per acre (1.68 tons per acre). Total barley production for 2019 was 5.950 million bushels or 142,800 tons.

Washington State is ranked fourth in the nation’s top barley-producing states.
