8.11.20 The joke is that farmers from other harsh environments come to north Douglas County just to be glad they’re not farming there. But for the farmers who do make the region home, surviving—even prospering—in the harsh environment, is a badge of honor. Which is why episode 190 is entitled “Douglas Poole’s Badge of Honor–Farming in North Douglas County”. Poole is the former president of the Pacific Northwest Direct Seed Association, and an accountant in his former life. He brings the sensibilities of both to his farming operation, as well as a willingness to push the agronomic envelope by incorporating cover crops and livestock into his operation.
